In collaboration with Bicycles for Cambodia, in June 2018, Designworx and Edmund Ng Architects donated 20 water wells to Cambodian villages, making clean water more available and accessible in the Siem Reap region.
In Cambodia, the main source of an average village’s drinking water is from rainfall and collected in cement structures, creating an unsanitary environment to hold water. As such, many villages are ultimately exposed to contaminated water and run the risk of contracting waterborne diseases. With these new water wells, the pipes reach up to 10-20 metres underground and reduce exposure to contamination. By building these water wells, the increased access to potable water will be one of the first and most important steps to improve their hygiene and sanitation practices.
We would also like to express our gratitude to Designworx and Edmund Ng Architects for their generous support and donation to this cause.
